Veronika Marinos – Program Coordinator. Creative Writing.
Veronika Marinos has been a teacher since the early 1980s. She has taught English, Visual Art, Humanities and Drama and has a passion for fostering creative learning across the disciplines. She began her teaching life in the outer western suburbs of Sydney which was, according to her, ‘a baptism of fire’. The schools in those days lacked many basic resources. It taught her to be creative, resilient and resourceful.
When her children were small Veronika moved to Queensland and took some time away from classroom teaching to study Art Curriculum at the Queensland University of Technology. At that time she also worked part time facilitating Art Therapy at a hospital in Brisbane for a few years in the early 1990s.
After a career teaching high school in Brisbane, Veronika traveled to Vietnam in 2009 and taught at the Australian International School in Ho Chi Minh City. Following that she worked in local Vietnamese schools and with private students. Her experience volunteering in Vietnamese orphanages was a profound and moving time for her.
Back in Australia Veronika calls Maleny home. She is currently undertaking a Certificate III in Disability Care.
